If any of you are looking for a corona break, look no further. Let's talk about something a bit more magical. Let's talk about mushrooms.
As humans continue to evolve into more emotionally intelligent creatures, we need to address the biggest issues holding us back from progress. As we exist today, we will go extinct sooner rather than later. Or current model is not only unsustainable, it's actively damaging us. Mental health is a top priority. I believe that mental illness (I'm using this term broadly) is the root cause of most issues we have as humans right now.

Our removal thousands of years of our close relationship with nature and natural medicine is at the center of this. I'm not condemning all modern medicine—I'm saying we need to find balance. The synthetic medicines we have essentially act as bandages on abscesses. In some cases, those bandages are lined with poison.

Treating mental illness is complicated—particularly if it stems from trauma. The potential that plant medicine like psilocybin hold for us isn't new, but it does need that solid grounding in science. That's the handshake between allopathic and holistic medicine.

The problem with throwing out the potential medicinal benefits of psilocybin because it doesn't have enough research is, well, researchers have had their hands tied for decades.

I fully support research into traditional medicines that have the potential to advance humans as a species. There is so much potential here, but it's barricaded by stigma, brainwashing and ignorance. If we can open our minds to new possibilities and allow new research to occur, I believe we can solve many of the problems we face as humans. We can continue to evolve.
