THE HUMMINGBIRD

I stare at the hummingbird

plieing through the air.

He tap dances above the petunias

sightseeing the rest of the garden.

His velvety feathers caress the sky

expressing his enjoyment

with his vigor in flight.

What is he thinking when flutters about?

His petite chest clearly trembling

revealing his quick hearbeat.

Does he relish in the buttery glow of the sun?

Or nuzzle in the essence of the flower's pollen?

I watch as he buzzes around

hypnotized by his movements

and wondering what it is like to be him.
