Private Notes

The dishes are being placed in the dishwasher,

the chiken cooking in the oven.

Tables and chairs are being unfolded

and arranged in the living room.

A sense of anticipation

and exhaustion

can be felt in the air.

Prepping and preparing for crowds

is never easy.

 

The guests will be arriving shortly

with their contributions to the food table

and gifts in tow.

Then comes the socializing and game playing,

a Herculean trial for any introvert.

Yet the excitment brings a smile

to everyone's face.
