Dear God,

We are gathered here today on WriteSpike, to pray for grandma's illness, and for others who may be suffering from Alzheimer's and/or other forms of dementia. Let us pray in togetherness, O God, for she was just like You. Praying for others and giving ALL her worries and cares to You. Show her mercy, O God, and kindness, and love to Mama, for that's how she would have treated You. Remember when Mama was once someone's Mother? Remember when Mama was once someone's Wife? Mama had a dream for the future; she had a whole life ahead of her. May You speak to her, O God, even if Mama isn't able to understand what You are saying, she can still hear You. Talk to her of things in her past of which Mama can still relate. Be considerate of Mama, O God, for her days are a struggle. May You keep Mama's feelings in mind because she can feel pain. I ask that You treat Mama with respect because she would have treated You that way. Think of how Mama was before she got Alzheimer's, due to dementia; she was full of life! Now, Mama's disease distorts her personal care, her thinking, her feelings, and her ability to respond. God, You say, "I will take away sickness from among you." May You heal Mama. Heal Mama's memory. Heal Mama's emotions. Heal her Spirit. Heal her body. Heal her soul and heal Mama from whatever separates her from You. Mama used to think about the future; she was also full of hope for the future. Please, O God, may You not blame Mama for her illness, but Alzheimer's. Mama is in need of Your compassion, Your warming touch, and most of all, she still needs You to love her. God, I ask that You keep Mama in Your prayers because she's between life and death. The love You give will be a blessing from You, and Mama will live eternity with You. Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, for He said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." In the Bible, it says, "By his wounds, we are healed." You WILL be with Mama. You WILL NOT forsake her. You WILL protect Mama. You WILL continue to give her strength. You WILL give her peace and You WILL always love Mama. "For Your love endures forever!" Amen.

Wow. I've never had to experience a loved one with Alzheimer's, but I pray that your husband's grandma is healed. I know it's super hard for everyone. You and your family are in my prayers.
