TUSCAN LENTIL SOUP

As I make dinner - Tuscan Lentil Soup,
I think of the ingredients as I put them in one by one.
Spinach for strength.
Carrots for vision.
Broth for comfort.
Onions for endurance.
Cannellini beans for soothing.
Lentils for satiety.
Each ingredient adding something different to the dish.
And then I started wondering,
is that not what love it?
Aspects of a person coming together
to create one dish
one relationship.
Various parts of us exposed,
being seen and appreciated,
for our positive attributes and faults.
Each ingredient in a recipe contributes something different.
A different flavor,
a different texture,
Is that not what a couple does?
Each person has their own characteristics
and ideas
to bring to the table
to form a relationship that becomes one entity
like vegetables
become soup.

Hi Ceara! Interesting read! I never thought of comparing food with relationships but you made perfect sense. It also seems easier to understand things for some reason. Not to mention, this made me hungry! Thanks for sharing.

I love the idea of personal merits being attributed to what your cooking with. That means the dish would be different for everyone who makes it, doesn't it?
