WHERE HAVE OUR HEROES GONE?

I watch the news all day long and realize that we are seeing our elected officials for the first time on both sides. We are seeing their true colors of who we elected. The idea that these politicians care about the American people over their own careers has been exposed as the biggest governmental deception of the century.

Even though I am not a Trump fan I will give him credit for exposing the fake elected officials. We vote on these people with the idea they care. The idea they want to make this country and the world better for everyone. The idea they are in public service as a self-sacrifice instead of monetary gain is no longer a reality.

We all do stupid shit and we all have made mistakes in our past. What makes us better people is how we take ownership of those mistakes and learn from them. Now sometimes we need to make a few mistakes in order to learn but as long as we learn we can thrive. The problem we have is we are refusing to learn and are more hell-bent on teaching a lesson to those who refuse to learn and who also want to teach a lesson. Our politicians have turned our lives into a game of, “I got you last.”

What makes this worse is the behavior I’ve seen of some of these Senators. Lindsey Graham, for example, making statements like, “I don’t give a shit if people don’t like that I support Trump.” Watching him walk away from a woman who was trying to tell him she had been a victim of sexual assault and hearing him say, “Go talk to the police,” was horrific and left me with a sense that there are no more good politicians. A good politician would have listened, a good politician would invite her in, sit her down, get her some water and call law enforcement for her. A good politician would sit with her in support while she told her story and filed a police report.

Senator Orrin Hatch is even worse because he tells women who are trying to be heard to grow up. Then the man hides behind two men while he waves at the infuriated women. He looked like a child hiding behind his mom’s skirt making faces at his sibling while she protected him. This is a man we elected to represent us and now that he is close to retiring, he is showing us who he really is. A man who does not care about our opinions, our pain, our struggle, or our needs. All he cares about is our money and how he can get it for his own financial gain.

It all makes sense now why the GOP refuses to stand up and rebuke Trump’s behavior to his face. They are scared of losing their careers. Welcome to being a working woman who has been sexually harassed on the job. Here is your reality though, either way, you are going to lose your political careers and the question you must ask yourself does I want to lose it with dignity or shame.

People see that you are not brave enough to stand up to Trump and if you are too scared to do that then what makes us think you will not be too scared to stand up for us. Will you be hiding behind our skirts or will you be standing in front of us telling the President these are my people and I will protect them from you at all cost?

The people of the DNC don’t get off so easy either. I realize that the GOP during the Obama administration refused to come to the table on things but to reciprocate that behavior makes you no better. The refusal to work with the GOP on issues and announcing your intentions to oppose before a compromise is even exhausted is not doing the job you were hired to do.

Yes, Senator Feinstein was wrong to not step up and discuss this problem with the ranking member even though she made a promise to Ford to keep it confidential. However, as a Senator, you have a duty to be transparent to something that may not be right. This could have been done confidentially and it should have been relayed to Dr. Ford that even though movement would not be made unless Dr. Ford wanted to, there was a civic duty to relay this information to at least the ranking members. I mean if a teacher got word that a student had been abused in some way they are required to report it whether the student wants to come forward or not.

Also changing in rules during the last administration only served to further divide this country rather than bring it together. We can’t change the rules because one side crosses their arms and refuses to engage. Good leaders don’t change the rules, good leaders make things work so everyone is included, otherwise, it’s no longer a Democracy.

I am so tired of the finger pointing and name calling of the left and right. If I had my choice I would get rid of the left and right and just have Americans. The problem with that is an Eagle can’t fly without wings. It can’t fly with just one wing either. It certainly can’t fly without its torso and head because the torso is what holds the wings together and the head is what allows us to see our path. So instead of being parts of an Eagle why don’t we fly as just the American Eagle or is that too much to ask our politicians to be our heroes?
