NEW ENGLAND MORNING

She smells like a rainy England morning

Her hair's a wild mess

Her blue eyes flutter open

I see the tattoo on her chest.

Then I wondered like I always do

How she ever came to find me

A broken man an unpaved road

A heart gone into hiding

My days rolled altogether

There was no refuge in the night

Another bar another drink

Another random fight

A desperate man living life

Reckless and uncaring

A hand of cards a pretty smile

A story not worth sharing

So tell me girl just why it is

I can't find the words to say

You're the reason I'm still living

And the reason that I stay.

Very nice lines -- have you thought of making this into song lyrics? -- I think it would work quite well

Hi Rick, I actually had a note or two going through my head as I wrote this. But since I'm not musicly inclined I couldn't get past the same 1 or 2 notes lol. I write a lot of song lyrics. They just don't have music to go with them. That's up to the artist I guess. Feel free to put music to it if you can. I'd love to hear it as a song.

I think there are more song writers who write only lyrics than song writers who do both. I am not a musician but I have written lyrics and know quite a few songs by heart.

Oh really? I thought most songwriters wrote the music to go with the lyrics. Well, that's cool.

Lyn, I could not resist and I hope you will forgive this very rough edit. But here is one way your lyrics could be put into song form. Hi Lyn, I had formatted your song line by separate line but the software at WriteSpike merged the lines together. But you can still see the flow.

Hey Rick! I love what you did with it. Beautiful flow. It works really well that way. Now.... For the music lol

What a beautiful sentiment. Everyone deserves to have someone feel that way about them
