Large groups of people

You're going to have to talk to

Fear grips and panic hits you

Fast beating heart, you want to run away

You really can't do this today

It scares you so that's why - You are socially awkward

Small talk is needed

What should you say?

"Hello, how are you today?"

Maybe you will say the wrong thing

Find that it's just a little embarrassing

It scares you so that's why - You are socially awkward

Silence is deafening

Nothing being said, no words, no noise

An awkward hush no one enjoys

Do you speak just to fill the void

The thought doesn't leave you overjoyed

It scares you so that's why - You are socially awkward

Your not going out

Your mind or your body can't face it

Feeling physically sick, your thoughts won't permit

You to stop feeling anxious, to relax

It's ridiculous but those are the facts

It scares you so that's why - You are socially awkward

In a social situation get the other person to tell you about what they do, about their life and let them do the talking which they will love to do -- and basically, you become a good listener.

This is incredibly deep and reaches a lot of readers. That's why some of us write. I love the premise behind it. Great work!
