Mirrors

I’ve noticed that I’ve been living on the backside of an upside-down mirror, where everything floats down or sinks up and each inhale feels like a punch to the throat and each exhale feels like the balloons of my lungs explode like bombs, where every step feels like a leap and each fall ends in a stance, and every time I sit down I am standing and each time I lay down I am running, where every bird walks and all the mice fly, where books are written backward and the pages are blank and the words bleed into the pen, where every handshakes before it meets another and every hug feels cold, where every kiss burns, and where the only normal thing is that “I love you” still does more damage than good.

David, this personifies the chaos that is love. I love your choice of words. It grabs the attention and makes you follow to the end. Great work.

Upside-down and inside-out! How do you get through the day? Hang in there (or float down).
