"Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. . . . All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness," (II Timothy‬ ‭3:12, 16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬) (https://www.bible.com/bible/114/2ti.3.12,16.nkjv)

In case some have not yet gotten the message, the Christian faith is the opposite of a Get Out of Jail Free card. Several times in scripture we are told that suffering is to be expected. Jesus Himself told His followers, "'These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.'" (John 16:33NKJV), so Paul's statement to Timothy should come as no surprise. Note, however, this awareness should give us peace.

The second sentence should encourage us, as well. Though Paul spoke primarily of the Old Testament in this instance, all New Testament writings accepted as canonical would also be covered by this same assurance; Peter gave a similar endorsement in II Peter 1:20-21.
