For some people, the closest thing they have to a routine is to wake up, eat, work, and then sleep. In order to create a routine that is beneficial to your life, you must expand the typical daily routine (and commit to it). Creating a routine that is specific for your lifestyle can have a huge impact on your life and well-being. It’s never too late to start a daily regimen that you don’t have to follow, but actually, love to follow!
Benefits of a Daily Routine
Organization
Creating a daily routine allows you to give your life structure in many aspects. Instead of procrastinating important tasks, a daily routine reminds you to take time for those tasks. Soon enough, you will feel comfortable with your to-do list, knowing exactly when it’s time to get to work. Having this structure helps organize your thought and become less scatter-brained. You will no longer feel like there is too much on your plate, instead, you will feel confident in what you have to do and when you have time to do it.
Reducing Stress
A lot of our stress comes from feeling a lack of control over our lives. We are constantly taking over new responsibilities and the pressure to complete them. When you allow these responsibilities to become a part of your routine, there is so much less to worry about. Every day when you wake up, you know what to expect-- and you know you can accomplish it. Having a routine that takes your numerous commitments and spreads them out day by day, makes you realize that these expectations aren’t as scary as you once thought.
Self Confidence
You are always going to be more confident giving a presentation that you have practiced a million times and know exactly how to deliver. However, winging a presentation is always scary, because you don’t feel confident that whatever you present will represent you well. This is the same with routines, if you wing every day, you will be less confident in your abilities. If you practice a daily routine, you will always be confident in your ability to tackle the day ahead of you.
Success
Lastly, creating a daily routine can help you succeed in many aspects of life. This is because it keeps you confident and focused, so you don’t forget anything. You also will have more time to work hard in order to have a successful outcome. Overall, a well-organized routine is a well-thought-out plan for future success.
Tips for Creating Your Routine
Get a Calendar
Having a calendar that is filled in allows you to look at your responsibilities day by day rather than by deadlines.
Make Reminders on Your Phone
Making reminders or to-lists on your mobile devices will make sure you don’t miss a thing so you aren’t falling behind.
Plan your Schedule
Take time to gather all of your deadlines, duties, plans, and other responsibilities and fit them into a manageable schedule.
Discipline Yourself
When you start your routine, stick to it! It takes 21 days of commitment to something for it to become a habit. So don’t give up, and don’t let yourself fall behind because before you know it, your routine will become second nature.
Allow Time to Relax
Never create a routine that doesn’t involve time to relax. Make room in your schedule to indulge in laziness, but only for a certain amount of time so you can unwind before getting back to work.
Create a Healthy Sleep Schedule
Sleep affects our stress greatly, and a healthy sleep schedule allows us to feel energized in the morning and ready to sleep at the end of the day. Without a proper sleep schedule, we are more stressed and somewhat lethargic.
Plan Ahead
Don’t wait until the last minute to create your schedule. Do it ahead of time! Be smart, be prepared, and stay ahead of the game.
Recognize your Habits
When creating your routine, be aware of certain habits of yours that may hold you back from staying on schedule. Understand these habits and work towards replacing them with new habits that will help you succeed!
Hopefully, these tips can motivate you to get your life together and build a routine that works and benefits your life!

Creating reminds in my phone, allowing time to relax, and planning ahead have been the most vital part in having a more successful life recently that I have learned. This is definitely helpful. -
These are great tips! I share a lot of them but others are so hard to make habits. Didn't know it took 21 consistent days of implementing something for it to become a habit. Very insightful advice. Thanks Emily!

I do the best I can to make a routine for me and my infant. He doesn't always let it work out. Good reminder about how it helps more than him, thank you!
