Whether you are brand new to essential oils or only thinking of beginning your journey, you are probably wondering which essential oils to start with. After all, there are so many to choose from! Almost 100, to put a number on it. So how do you narrow it down to a top 5?

Some of the most beneficial and versatile essential oils that everyone should own are Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lemon, and Grapefruit which make up the 5 essential oils you absolutely must have and for so many reasons!

Top 5 must-have essential oils for beginners:
5. Lemon-
This essential oil is great for so many things. It relieves allergy symptoms when inhaled, aids in weight loss when you ingest [a food grade brand] and relieves nausea and vomiting.
It smells exactly as you would imagine. A sour, juicy lemon (with a hint of sweetness). The aroma is uplifting and will help put you in a better mood plus it is good for cleaning because it has antibacterial properties and while you clean, you are leaving behind a crisp, clean, all-natural scent.

It blends well with Lavender, Peppermint, tea tree oil, and most floral and citrus essential oils as well.
Its versatility and awesome properties make it one of the best oils, to begin with.

4. Grapefruit- Uplifting, stress-relieving, and pain reducing are just a few words that perfectly describe this oil. It gives you a chance to step back and allow the stresses of the day to melt away.
But it doesn’t stop there!

Grapefruit essential oil has also been proven to help you lose weight and to help boost your memory.
It blends amazingly with ylang-ylang, vanilla, and citrus oils.

There are so many uses for grapefruit that it deserves its very own post, but until then, grab a bottle of grapefruit so you can see what you are missing!

3. Lavender- The lovely and floral aroma of Lavender essential oil relaxes your mind and relieves stress, anxiety, and pain! Need I say more?

Lavender is well known for its sedative-like properties as well as for its skin soothing and allergy relieving properties.

It smells even better when mixed with floral essential oils such as rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, or Palmarosa, but it blends well with a lot of oils so you will just have to experiment to find scents you love.

It’s a must have oil for beginners. Because of the versatility of this oil, you always have a use for Lavender. It will never just sit in your cabinet because you don’t have a use for it!

2. Eucalyptus- This oil helps you fight cold and infection with its anti-bacterial and antimicrobial properties.
I use eucalyptus globulus religiously but if you are going to be using it around babies, it’s best to use one of its less potent counterparts, such as eucalyptus radiata.
By simply diffusing this oil you can reduce stress and anxiety. Just inhale the crisp scent, sit back and relax.

By mixing it with peppermint essential oil you can create the perfect cold/flu blend that relieves headache and stuffy nose and helps to alleviate pain. A must-have for building the immune system.

1. Peppermint- A super versatile oil that is a natural analgesic, antiseptic, energy booster, and anti-inflammatory.

If you could only choose ONE oil, this is the one you must have! If you are going to buy them one by one, this should be your first oil because it is so beneficial!

Peppermint helps relieve nausea, helps fight infection, and helps when you have a nagging cold. It relieves pressure in your head [which relieves headaches], and it helps clear your airways to help you breathe more easily.

Take the first step!
Once you begin, you will be addicted, and your collection will continue to grow just like mine has.

Starting with these five oils, you will be able to see why you need essential oils in your life, how they can benefit you and your family, and how much money you can save when you start relying on nature instead of manmade!!
