He watched her step onto the train, fighting every urge to jump onboard after her.  "Don't leave." He whispered under his breath. "We can work this out."  He wanted to shout the words, but once her mind was made up, no amount of talking and begging could change her mind.

He walked along the side of the train watching her walk the aisle, looking for a seat.  He wasn't surprised she found a seat on the other side, even though there were plenty of seats for her to sit and wave at him as the train took off. She was purposely avoiding had.  She had to be.  That meant just one thing.  She didn't really want to leave, but pride was propelling her forward, anyway.

Right then, he knew what he had to do.  She would think he had left before the train took off. Let her think that.  It will make the surprise more endearing.

He ran back inside to the ticket counter.  He had barely a few minutes before the train took off.  He saw no line, and the ticket counter was still open.  Fate and destiny would put him on that train with her.

Jumping onboard, just as the train started to move, he gave his ticket to an irritated ticket agent. He would wait until the train was a distance from the train station, before surprising her.  He was certain that by the time the train reached Paris, everything would be worked out and they would return together, later in the week.
