A writer.

She sees everything through the lens of an unfilled page.

Everywhere she goes, everyone she meets, is part of a story waiting to be written.

Her job - her purpose - is to fill empty space.

The need to fix a blank page burns inside of her always.

She can't turn it off. She can't quench it. She can't soothe it. She can't extinguish it - until she writes.

That's how she knows

She is

A writer.

Tanya Marion is the author of Tyne E. Tells, a fiction novel for 8 to 12-year-olds, and the founder of WriteSpike.com.

I love the Faulkner quote, "A writer's duty is to help man [humanity] endure by lifting his heart." And when writers don't do that, they sputter and their mind gets constipated. Thank you for the reminder.
