THE INSATIABLE INNER-WOLF

A grey wolf sits patiently beside,
unless my typewriting subsides;
then her jaws creep insidiously
towards my cheek.
Her right eye droops sickeningly.
Her rotten tongue lolls to the left.
Fangs stained black; her
gums drip emergency red.
Her panting reeks of death as her mouth slowly unfolds.
I see only teeth and matted fur.
I hastily clack at my keypad
and
she halts;
observes me swallow my tongue.
Maggots fall from her jowls
and
she never blinks,
and
her stomach always growls.

    I know that feeling. And “emergency red”! I like that.

      Thank you James! I have no doubt you do; you have a signature style that is apparent throughout your pieces I have read.

    Thomas, nice work. I think this is fitting for most anyone who is writing in any fashion. We all have that beast inside us to keep us going. Thank you for sharing.

    Definitely feel this way sometimes. I think that wolf is necessary to push ourselves to work and be as creative as possible. Good one Thomas!
