COMING BACK TO REALITY

Laying in bed,

Eqyptian cotton sheets covering us,

an extra fuzzy, chenille blanket cocooning us

to keep out the winter chill.

Your head resting in the epicenter of the pillow,

cushioned on all sides,

while together we ponder about the expectations for the day.

We talk through the schedule,

build a to-do list,

and question the possibility of staying in bed instead.

Of course we cannot,

we have places to be

and people to see.

But we enjoy our morning time ritual

fantasizing about the day we could have had

before coming back to reality

and facing the world.
