PASSION

Passion is a beautiful thing;

It doesn’t need to be just love or intimacy.

It is avidity, an eagerness unmatched.

Having passion for something is what is the goal in life.

Half-assery is not rewarding.

Being truly involved with something is what motivates you to move forward.

Whether a hobby or career

Whether a person or place

Everyone has a passion or passions that should drive them..

It may take years to find,

A lifetime to master,

But that passion is the root of your existence.

Finding your passion is a lot of trial and error

It is playing sports in your youth, trying instruments in your adolescence, and switching majors in your college years.

Hell, you might not find it until you’re 80 years old.

I think that this is the ultimate goal though,

To learn what makes you tick, what inspires you, what makes your day feel fulfilled,

And enjoy it for yourself and help others find theirs.

I myself am still finding my passion.

I try new things, make new experiences, venture into unknown realms in an attempt to fulfill and enrich my life,

And hopefully someday find the one passion I can settle into and make mine.

THIS! The fruits of your labor are only most fruitful when you nurture what you're doing from the depths of your soul, so it can grow and be able to sprout more seeds, abundantly, to provide a full garden.

I love what you say here, and I think it's very important. I remember when a career/academic counselor from the college I finished my coursework at spoke to me about advice to give the students who were still undeclared in their major, and it really is just trying things out, and allowing whatever feeds your soul to guide you in that direction. I also love what you said here, "I try new things, make new experiences, venture into unknown realms in an attempt to fulfill and enrich my life,And hopefully someday find the one passion I can settle into and make min." This is all you can really do. Loved this whole piece you did here.

Thanks so much! I honestly was just sitting there thinking about all my many interests and hobbies and contemplating over which one of them is going to become my main focus and then kind of realized how overarching the idea of passion really is.

I agree! It's all about finding that north star and always moving forward. Once you find that passion, go all in. There is nothing more fulfilling. Great one Grace! Wish you the best for finding yours!

I really like this piece. I think that one of the greatest moments in life is discovering where your true passions lie. I'm fairly lucky; I've known that writing is a passion of mine since I was a kid. Even still, though, I sometimes discover new ones -- whether to a person or to new story ideas. I like that your piece is poetic, while also discussing an important life lesson.
