Memories started to Heal

By: Johnlyn Medios

You can see a normal child in front of you

Sweet, happy, cheerful, and full of hope

Come closer, little by little, you observe

This child has a story to tell, listen very well

He came and cared for me when I was eight

I was happy but tragic came, to regret is too late

He was there to sing me a lullaby to let me fall in sleep

Lay down in the bed, told to keep quiet and be still

Tears rushing down in my face as I screamed in pain

That night, I thought it will never happen again

My mom was out and I am alone,

A figure of threat came along

It happened all over and over again,

My heart fills with dread

Where do I begin to explain this unfathomable feeling?

With lustful eyes, you've watched me there bleeding

As if no one cared,I almost lost my sanity

I was never allowed to talk

Beaten up so I couldn't walk

Pulling up her sleeves to conceal the abuse within

Nevertheless, once faded it will come back soon anew

Sitting under the night so lonely and black

No one knows what she's holding back

As she looks up above, stars shining so bright

She muttered a whisper beneath her breathe

A prayer and out of eye drops a single tear

She heard the door creaks, she thought it was him

The child undressed herself, entangled her shiny hair

To her surprise, a lady clothed her

And hugged her from the back

A smile on her face calmed her soul,

Saying thank God I was saved

As she was brought to a safe haven,

Memories of the past started to heal

Just like the sun in the sky, with the certainty of tides,

And stars up so high

She told herself, even hope may seem futile

And tables keep on turning

I may fail sometimes but that fall shall not make me give up, but to rise up
