THANK YOU PAST SELF

I’m not even sure where to begin. Sometimes I miss you then I realize we’re on to bigger and better things but I’ve seen how we’ve grown and without you, we probably wouldn’t have realized our passion for writing and be where we are today. Weird, right? I know life was hard and threw you some unexpected curve balls but you always stood tall & found a way. I’m proud of you and I know Dad still is too. At this point I’m sure you’re wondering what’s new. So far in 2019 we pretty much started our own company and blogsite, manage an Instagram account, we’re in a pretty cool relationship, and have two really solid podcasts with plans to reach out to a visual arts team to potentially start a company (🤞🏽). Clearly we’re still dreaming pretty big and still don’t have any regrets. We’ve learned a lot over the years too and I hope we continue to learn from our mistakes, grow, and evolve. You’re great at picking friends by the way, we’re still rocking with the same small group and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Our taste in music is always changing but that’s not really anything new. The only advice that I can give you is to always stay true to yourself, stay genuine, continue to think outside of the box and want more, and often take time to step back to look at your progress and how far you’ve come. We’re always so focused on the next task and thinking ahead, that we don’t take time to reflect. You always got past our fear and self doubt and I know there’s a lot more to come. As you know, I’ve been known for saying “thank your past self” whenever someone thinks ahead of whatever situation and I have yet to thank you. So thank you past self and I love you. You put in so much work and I’ll make sure it’ll pay off one day.

This is amazing. Congratulations on your entrepreneur endeavors! I wish you all the success. -

This legit speaks to me and my spirit. I too have made my mistakes and have evolved, stick to a small group, of mostly the same people, and my music taste is always evolving, but nothing necessarily new. The advice is so necessary and helpful. I too get ahead of myself, and forget to reflect, and enjoy the current, appreciate what I've done so far, even what seems like the "smallest" accomplishments. The crazy thing is, over the last 2 days, I had to thank my past self. Sometimes we're further ahead in the past, than we are in the present. We may need to take the ways of our past self, to combat the ways of the current and future lives we life. Great article Jalen. -
This is awesome. Congratulations. I'd love to check out your blog site and podcast! Keep it up!

Love this, always good to write to yourself and see where you've come.
Thanks (and for the other comment as well). A few months a close friend of mine kind of breakdown my accomplishments up until that point. It’s was stuff I never had thought about & I realized I had actually got a lot done. But before that I’d be hard on myself because I thought I wasn’t doing enough. After that happened it just kinda clicked lol but you said it way better than I could’ve. Thanks again. I appreciate it.
