After something crazy happens to you,

You begin to feel lost.

You start to lose touch of reality and everything begins to go numb.

But for everyone else you remain strong,

For those around you, you try to grasp at unraveling strings,

Try to piece together the shattered pieces,

With tape, with glue, with anything you can.

But everyone knows shattered glass is never fixed.

You know that everything you are trying to do is fruitless.

So you let it fall apart.

You let it disintegrate into dust.

That same dust flies through the air around you as you empty out the old, untouched rooms.

It swirls around you, visible in the fading hours of the evening.

It reminds you of the inklings of what your life once was,

The vanishing memories of your fucked up youth.

The craziness dies down after several years,

But by that point, anyone that mattered to you is gone anyway,

Dead, left, gone from your life and you are all alone.

But everyone knows shattered glass is never fixed.
This is beautiful. I think I would change it to "But everyone knows that shattered glass is never fixed" because it makes the line feel more complete, but that's just a personal touch. Thanks for sharing this piece!

This whole thing is just beautiful. I love the feeling and vibe around it. Can relate as well.. You really manage to transmit your feelings, kind of like a good heartfelt song. Awesome job Grace!

      Thanks!

  • This is pretty much my story, and is pretty much the story of the strong friend or family member, and the society around them (not noticing that just because they're still here, doesn't mean they aren't cracking and have sustained tons of damage that may be irreversible).

Like don't get me wrong, I don't mind being the strong one, and I would never admit defeat, but like you said, there is always sustained damage that can never fully heal.
