THE LANDSCAPE OF THE NBA

After this off season the NBA will be more wide open than you think. Think about it, there are a lot of teams doing better than expected this year and the juggernaut that is the Warriors may be likely to split up assuming KD leaves in free agency. The Nuggets are currently 2nd in the western conference and at one point had 1st plus Isaiah Thomas just came back from injury. They’re only 1.5 games behind Warriors. The Kings are currently 9th in the west but battling for a spot in the playoffs and they’re playing some really good basketball for being such a young team. Not to mention they’re still ahead of the Lebron lead Lakers at 10th. The western conference is stacked but majority of us knew that. The Clippers are even back in playoff contention and the Mavericks hopefully get Kristaps back next year (🤞🏽i really want to see that).

The eastern conference is led by Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Raptors are 1.5 game behind in 2nd. Even without Victor Oladipo (due to injury), the Pacers are still holding 3rd. But teams like the Nets, Hornets, and Pistons currently hold playoff contention. The Knicks even made moves, although most people thought they were crazy at first turned out to be solid for the future. And I would hate myself if i didn’t mention the Bulls. Even though they’re 13th & going through coaching struggles they play really well most nights. They just beat the Celtics as I’m writing this. Zach Lavine and Lauri Markknen went off for 42/6/4 and 35/15/2 respectively. And I haven’t even gotten to the potential free agency moves and draft. I mentioned KD already but Kawhi, Kyrie, Klay, Jimmy, Kemba (who’s been upping his stock lately), Tobias Harris, Demarcus Cousins, and Khris Middleton hit free agency and the Pelicans are more than likely trading AD in the off season. I’m just saying anything is possible when the Clippers, Nets, and Knicks are requested trade destinations. The Knicks have space for 2 big contracts and it may be a destinations for some high caliber players.

Although the draft isn’t projected to be that deep, if you haven’t heard Zion Williamson will likely being entering the draft in 2019. Along with players R.J Barrett, Ja Morant, Cam Reddish, Romeo Langford, Nassir Little, Darius Garland, PJ Washington, and Bol Bol are also likely to declare. In my perfect world, I see Kyrie and KD teaming up on the Knicks & potentially teaming up with Zion depending on how the draft goes. AD maybe traded to the Lakers or the Celtics depending if Kyrie stays or leaves. Klay signs with the Lakers and Kawhi may surprise us all by staying the Raptors. Khris Middleton probably resigns with the Bucks and hopefully Kemba doesn’t choose his loyalty to the Hornets over entering free agency.

I’m just saying that the landscape of the NBA could look totally different within a span of a summer. 🤷🏽‍♂️
