ON WHAT IS YOUR HOUSE BUILT?

"Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit."

This image of the Body of Christ is so all-encompassing. No one stands on their own. The walk of faith must have a foundation; of what does it consist?

Throughout his teaching Paul makes clear that both his and the other Apostles' teaching draws on Old Testament scriptures and Jesus' restatement of them for its authority, hence his citation of the apostles and prophets includes the Old Testament. Of course, the touchstone of it all is Jesus's teaching; God's Word must rule over all.
