I wander around

looking for this thing.

It is big and heavy,

yet somehow it got away from me.

It was originally my ancestors,

but it was taken from them.

So now I am trying to find it,

but I don't know how.

As I search the archives

of our human collective unconscious,

I move other things around...

I hope I don't lose those too.

Culture? That's what I imagine. Ancestors had culture and it was taken or assimilated through time or fear. The second stanza introducing the idea that while we look for what we lost, are we missing what's being created now? Is there only beauty in what's been buried? Can we only appreciate something after it's gone or can we exist actively in our "now" . Are we creating a culture worth celebrating today for future generations? Thank you for posting, and I appreciate seeing your comments on so many other contributors. I think it's important to support this community and I think we share that value here. I am happy to be the first comment on your piece here. You fill other cups, I hope this contributes to yours. I look forward to reading more in the future.

Those are all great questions, I am glad it got you thinking! I was ruminating on what society has done throughout history to oppress people and culture is definitely something that has been affected. Thank you so much! I agree, it is important to support each other :)
